Devaney aims for Grand Prix success

Promising International motor racing talent Michael Devaney, from Rathfarnham, Dublin, will be hoping to catch the attention of Formula 1 bosses this weekend when the Formula BMW Championship travels to the Nurburgring to support the European Grand Prix.
Rounds 7 & 8 of the BMW Motorsport backed series, the two F1 support races provide the Motorsport Ireland 'Young Racing Driver of the Year' with the perfect opportunity to demonstrate his talents in front of the sports most influential people.
One man in particular the 17-year-old will be aiming to impress is fellow countryman Eddie Jordan who was team-mate to Michael's father, Bernard, in the 1979 British F3 Championship.
Currently second in the standings on 57 points, the former Irish Kart Champion will also be looking to further reduce the deficit to Nico Rosberg who leads the series on 75 points.
The winner of Round 3 at Zolder in Belgium, the Irish ace is determined to add another top podium finish to his tally having halved the advantage held by his Finnish rival earlier this month at the Sachsenring.
With no practice at the Nurburgring, Michael goes straight into qualifying this evening (Friday) with just 30 minutes to learn the new circuit layout and record a lap time quick enough to ensure him a position at the front of the grid.
Race 2, the grid for which will be decided by the results of Saturday's race, takes place just before the European Grand Prix itself on Sunday.
